BI-LO Charities Dedication

Greenville Health System Dedicates BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center

May 30, 2008

GREENVILLE, SC,  – The BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center was officially dedicated today (Friday, May 30) when a small crowd gathered on the Greenville Memorial Medical Campus to see a six-foot high by 15-feet wide sign announcing the center’s name unveiled.

The pediatric cancer center, formerly known as the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center of Children’s Hospital, was renamed in November when Greenville Health System (GHS) received a $2.5 million donation from BI-LO Charities to support existing pediatric cancer support services. This gift marked the largest donation ever given to a single charity by BI-LO Charities and the largest gift received to date by GHS.

“Our gift to the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center is an investment in the health of our community,” said Tye Anthony, chairman of the BI-LO Charity Classic and executive vice president of BI-LO Supermarkets. “BI-LO is committed to helping GHS ensure children with cancer receive the best care possible close to home.”
