You know what writing for this blog has taught me? I have quite a few favorite times of the year.
You’ve heard me sing the praises of holiday time and Radiothon time before, and pretty soon, another annual bright spot will be here: Camp Courage time.
There’s so much to love about Camp Courage time: I love working with Director Jamie Gibson to determine what pediatric cancer and blood disorder patients need most each summer, I love meeting campers and I love visiting camp (where I text my husband and friends pictures of the gorgeous views and ask, “Can you believe this is my job??”).
We’re kicking off Camp Courage time a little differently this year. In celebration of the upcoming camp dates (June 24-29 and July 29-Aug. 4), we’ve launched a campaign to help meet one of the campers’ biggest needs: craft supplies.
These supplies aren’t just helpful for creative classes; in the hands of these pediatric patients, these artistic endeavors allow them to therapeutically express themselves and to create a reminder of their treatment journey.
